BACK TO SCHOOL – TERM 3

Mrs Reddy’s Classroom Newsletter

WELCOME BACK !

Hi Everyone

I know that it has been a miserably cold holiday for most but I still hope you made the most of spending quality time together just relaxing and keeping warm.
The third term is looking rather busy but there is a lot to look forward to. I am keen to meet with you and your child to formulate a plan for the second half of the year at the interviews coming up soon.
The students will continue to be guided and supported in keeping the routines to engage in learning in Room 5. I am sure the students  will work on developing their responsibility with a positive attitude to work on their next steps as identified and documented in their mid-year reports shall continue to endeavour to do the best I can to ensure their progress in all areas.
The school discipline policy has been revisited and will be closely followed in my class to help  those children who  need help in acquiring appropriate behaviours to promote their own and other’s learning am happy to enlighten you about how the policy works if you wish.

Term 3 - COMMUNICATION

The big concept that weaves through all our learning is Communication which means that most if not all of our studies will be around this theme.

LONGTERM PLAN
RE-The major strands for the term will be SACRAMENT  and CHURCH. The students will be involved in active ways to expand their knowledge and apply their learning through their actions and thoughts in their every day living.
You shall be informed of the content of studies in your child’s RE exercise book. This book will be sent home on a regular basis with home activities to be completed with your support. This exercise enables you to understand the learning objectives. It is important that you sign each activity on completion and write a comment at the end of the study in each strand.
We shall also be learning about how to pray through Imaginative  Prayer as well as The Assumption  in the Liturgical Year module.
Social justice based on Catholic Teaching will be taught in the last two weeks of term culminating with our annual Mission Fair. Exciting!
The Family Whanau book is an invaluable resource for parents to have at  home as it gives you all the necessary information about the RE programme from Year 1 to Year 8.You may buy it or borrow one from the school office.
