AN EXCURSION - WILLOWBANK WILD LIFE RESERVE -20 JUNE 2012

INFORMATION REPORTS 0N SNOW

Types of Snow

There are three different types of snow. They determined by the weight and the shape of snowflakes. Powdery snow is fluffy which turns into granular snow when it starts to melt. The third type of snow is icy .This snow  keeps on melting and refreezing. The best type of snow to have fun in is the powdery snow.

MEASURING SNOW
People measure snow at special locations using special scales called snow pillows. It is measured every 6 hours. The total measurement for snowfall in a day is found by the four totals collected in a day. It is hard to measure snow because it melts, blows and drifts.
