MRS REDDY AND ROOM 5 STUDENTS SEND THEIR BEST WISHES TO THE ALL BLACKS !

Having spent some time reading about the RWC 2015 so far this term and getting to know a lot of things about the game and our ABs ,we are really excited about the final on Sunday morning. Mrs Reddy will be watching keenly and praying for the ALL BLACKS to win!She is confident that the ABs are bringing the cup back home.

Lions Christchurch Primary Schools’ Music Festival 2015

Yesterday at 6 30pm the Room 5 Choir went to the Horncastle Arena to perform. We sang all the songs beautifully in tune and in time with the music.

I think we harmonized well. My favourite song was the Mexican Wave.

We looked awesome doing the clapping and the Mexican wave.

The special choir sang some frozen songs and a song about the Cathedrals falling down during the earthquake- I liked that.

It was a great experience and  especially  so for Mimi who played  in the orchestra.

Altar Servers’ Meeting

At 2:30pm last Wednesday ,all the Altar Servers both old and new walked over to the Stella Maris Church with Mary Stott.

The first thing we did was go into the altar servers' changing rooms where Mary showed us to go before Mass. It is called the sacristy where our altar servers’garments are kept and other Mass things are kept. Next we were told how to prepare the altar for Mass and shown what to do. Some of the senior altar servers demonstrated how to serve.

At the end we all prayed the “Our Father” to finish the practice. It was awesome being inside our church again and we would like to thank Mary Stott for all her hard work and encouragement to make us the best altar servers.

HOOKED ON CRICKET

Tuesday 20th October
Dear Diary
Today was HOOKED ON CRICKET for some of us Year 5 students. There were 8 teams from different schools taking in the hooked on cricket. The bus arrived at 9:15am .When  we got there we saw two  Wizard’s players and some of the Canterbury King’s players.
We played right next to the lake at Hagley Park and some of us nearly hit  the ball  into the lake. Our matches were interesting and we tried hard.
After our hot dogs for lunch, we had our last round against the Linwood North School A team.
We were played for the 4th and 5th place. We chose to bat first and we hit a lot of sixes and fours .We won - 234 to 214.
After that we had a photo with the Canterbury Kings and they also  signed our T-shirts.
Our coach of the day was Andy Ellis  and he was proud of us.
A SPECIAL THNK YOU TO PENNY CHERRY FOR TAKING US !

DISCO NIGHT!

Last Friday night after school at 6pm the St.Anne's disco started. St.Annes has a disco every year in the last term of the year. This year’s disco was held in the St.Annes hall. The entry fee was two dollars.
We started off with a song and we all danced, even the teachers!!! There were glow sticks for sale and lolly bags as well as drinks. As soon as I got in the hall I brought a sausage because I was starving, I was so excited about the disco that I forgot to eat something before I left home. Later on Mrs Reddy arrived and boogied on the dance floor with me and my friends. Mr Wichman brought his two boys to the disco, the younger boy's name was Theo and the older one, Charlie. We welcomed them and made them feel at home.
One of the most popular songs of this year was played called The Whip And Nae Nae.
Now when The Whip And Nae Nae song was on,practically everybody jumped on the dance floor. After playing a long list of  songs we finally started the games. My  favourite game was Limbo.
At about 8pm, the last song played was Whip And Nae Nae.It was  very dark outside when we made our way home.
I think that it was the best disco we have ever had at St.Annes. The money raised will fund some of our school trips thanks to the PTA.

HAVE A GOOD GAME ON SUNDAY! MORNING!

ROOM 5 ASSEMBLY TODAY!

The  leader for our  assembly was Ruby and the theme was about our talents  and how important it is to use the talents we have ,especially in the last term of the year. My part of the assembly was a little prayer about talents. We sang  one song, Let Your Light Shine. It was an amazing assembly because everyone enjoyed our singing and Mr Wichman said we all spoke, read very well and how he liked that everyone in Room 5 had a chance to do something special during our assembly.

After the liturgy we sang 3 choir songs that we are singing at the  Christchurch Music School Festival. in a couple of weeks at Horncastle Arena. We started with Poi e and then Murasame No, a beautiful Japanese song  and Here Comes The Sun. They all sounded wonderful. Thanks to all our parents and visitors who came to the assembly.

At 12.00 we went to the Parish and School Mass and we sang Ave Maria and Let You Light Shine Again. It was a good Mass and we are going to try to make God happy .We know He watches all our thoughts and actions.

BACK TO SCHOOL – TERM 4 2015

Mrs Reddy’s Classroom Newsletter

WELCOME BACK !

Tena koutou,Talofa lava and welcome back.

I trust that you  all had a lovely holiday and the children are well rested for the last term of the year. Once again  have a very busy term planned which will keep us well occupied. Thanks again for all your support of our Mission Fair which was a huge success despite the wet weather and a lot of fun.

The students continue to need guidance and support to engage in learning at this level. I hope that the children will work on becoming self-propelled learners and develop this responsibility with a positive attitude .I shall endeavour to do the best I can to ensure their progress in all areas. I am very happy with the general behaviours and work habits of my students who will continue to develop responsibility, respect, friendship and excellence in all areas of their learning.

If you were unable to make the interviews I am still happy to discuss your child’s progress with you. These interviews are of vital importance and keep you accurately informed of your child’s learning progress and other behaviours at school in their presence.

TERM 4 – TECHNOLOGY

This subject will be a focus for all our learning this term and will be integrated as much possible in all other subjects.

LONGTERM PLAN

RE-Prayer remains a large focus throughout the term .The  Holy Spirit Strand will be studied and it integrates well with all learning this term.
The topic is Baptism and the Holy Spirit - In Baptism, people receive the Holy Spirit  in a special way which strengthens them to believe, hope and love, and overcome the power of original sin.  The Holy Spirit helps people to believe in Jesus and grow more like Him.

The Liturgical Modules studies are about All Saints,All Souls,Advent and Christmas.

Please refer to the Family-Whanau Book  for further information and complete all home activities with your child.

Technology- Groovy Gadgets- This is an  interesting topic with  plenty of learning experiences that will involve students problem solving and thinking critically and creatively. There are also opportunities for students to research and develop their own inventions to solve a problem.

Maths-Fractions/Problem Solving

Reading-Procedure focus - Reading for information and Understanding .

Written Language-Procedures

PE-Athletics, Small Ball Skills ,Cricket
