Kate Leaving and Miss Grice’s Birthday.

It  is Kate’s last day working at  St Anne’s catholic School. Everyone is going to miss her very much. Kate was a great helper because she helped Asa and other people that didn’t know what to do and who didn’t know the answer. I’m going to miss Kate Parker very much.
It’s Miss Grice’s birthday today! She turned a really lovely age. We sang her ‘Happy Birthday’ when she walked into the classroom.

Term 1 is over and we are looking forward to a great, happy term again in Room 5.                                                    By Alecxis

AUTHORS of ROOM 5

We have been learning to write EXPLANATIONS this term.

THE WATER CYCLE

A water cycle goes in a circle over and over again.

If we start with, precipitation (that’s rain) it falls and goes  into the sea. Next the sun softly sucks up the water called evaporation  . This water vapour which rises to form rain  clouds . When the clouds become too heavy which is condensation, it will suddenly start to rain.

The water cycle goes round and round and it never ever ends.

So ii In the water  cycle there are three steps evaporation, condensation  and  BIG HEAVY RAIN CLOUD called precipitation.

HURRICANES

Hurricanes are huge disastrous storms. They are big storms that can cause a lot of damage. Hurricanes don’t happen very often but when they do they are very damaging, especially when it hits land.

Hurricanes are formed in warm air, strong winds and heavy rain. The huge force of wind, rain can be a lot dangerous. They start in the oceans and move towards land. Once on land they  can kill people ,animals and  destroy food crops and other plants.

Hurricanes take a very long time until it passes over and it can still take a week for it to die down completely.

I hope we do not have any hurricanes in Christchurch because we have had lots of damage from earthquakes.

THE GOD STRAND Term 1

We have just finished learning about how faithful God is to us and how we can be faithful to him.er

Here are some short  poems and similies  we wrote.

GROUP 1

God is as loving as a warm hug. GOD IS AS  loving as our family.

GROUP 2

Reconciliation is telling the priest you’re sorry for the bad things you’ve done.
It is easier to turn back to God as long as you are sorry.

GROUP 3

Forgiveness is accepting apologies when someone does something wrong to you.
Say sorry and ask to be  forgiven.

GROUP 4

God is as faithful as a bird in the sky.
God longs to bring people healing as a doctor heals his patients.

GROUP 5

God is forgiving as a  mother.
God loves like a father loves his child.

THE BENEFITS OF LEARNING TO SWIM BY RAILYNNETTA

Many people such as children, adults and parents do not ensure that their family, friends or even children know how to swim or know about safety on a boat or on sea. Read my short article and you will find the benefits of learning to swim.

First, safety on sea is very important in New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji and many other countries surrounded with water, so it is very important to learn to swim or die trying. This is just one of the one many reasons.

Another reason is you never know when you might just get shoved into water and drown or suffer.

We are very fortunate to have swimming lessons through our school.
