Last
Friday , some parents sat patiently as Room5 were having a
quick final practise of their assembly.
Macarius
was our leader and he gave everyone a warm
welcome. Our first song was the National Anthem and the whole school joined in.
We
started of with the candle ceremony, each candle represented the past, present
or future. After the candle ceremony was the taking up of the ANZAC symbols.
Next
we then sang Eternal Rest which was followed by prayers.
Some
students beautifully said the Prayers of the faithful.
For our grandparents, great
grandparents and relatives who help us to remember our history and appreciate
people of courage and unselfishness.
For the families of all men
and women who died in past wars and who continue to feel the loss of their
loved ones.
For the safety of the men and
women who serve in the army, the navy and the air force today, we place them in
God’s faithful care.
For those who are living in war torn lands today, and those who
have had to run away from their countries and are having to live as refugees in
foreign lands. May they find peace and gentle love in their lives once again.
For people in power, that they
will always work and negotiate to bring peace to their countries and avoid war
at all costs.
For ourselves, that we may be peacemakers and peacekeepers in
our homes and in our school.
The
cross ceremony showing we respect all
those who died for us, was emotional - The Last Past was played while some
students put up the white crosses...
The
last song was Lest we Forget. The assembly ended well and we gave all the classes
the song lyrics of Lest we Forget.
