Mrs Reddy’s Classroom Newsletter-Term 3

 
I sincerely hope you had a restful break and enjoyed the holiday-I had a lovely time in Brisbane with my three daughters.
I would like to thank you sincerely for your tremendous support in the technology challenge - The pinhole cameras were amazing and added to the success of our TECHNO EXPO at the end of last term .
Special thanks to Mr Grant - we look forward to his visit soon.




The big concept that weaves through all our learning is CITIZENSHIP.
Students will study SEXUALITY EDUCATION- How life is  Mysterious – Changing and Growing  - How in  grateful response to this gift we respect  and care for our own and others’  Growth  and Changes.             

We shall also be completing  an integrated  Social Justice unit   The meaning of work - Why humans work-Different kinds of work-Workers' rights and responsibilities-Using our gifts in the workplace-a topic well integrated with RE.

LONGTERM PLAN

 RE- Imaginative Prayer from the Prayer Module will be taught at the beginning of the term is. Maori will be integrated in RE and other subject areas.We may study the Sacrament Strand too.

The Topic for the term will be JUSTICE AT WORK   reinforcing the work of the Holy Spirit in each of us - Using our gifts.

Your child will come home with home activities regularly to be completed requiring your support. This exercise allows you to support the learning that happens in class .It is important that you sign each activity on completion.

MATHS -  Mult/Div/Problem Solving Strategies and GEOMETRY will be covered. Please ensure that your child practises the times tables daily.
READING- Reading for meaning and understanding as well as recalling details of what is read. Please ensure that the  home reading log is monitored by you daily.
WRITTEN LANGUAGE- EXPLANATION
HEALTH – SEXUALITY EDUCATION L3
PE- Large ball games  to develop skills to play soccer and netball. Develop positional play, fair play and become competitive. Experience team work, leadership, achievement and goal setting. Improve  skills to next level .
THE ARTS – students will be learning all about Dance Level 3.

 REMINDERS - STUDENTS

Do your homework       Sleep at 8.00pm        Bring all that you need- to school daily.

 REMINDERS - PARENTS 

* Replenish stationery as needed.
*Your child will need the following supplies kept at school-a pencil, a ruler, red and black  pens, glue stick and scissors.
* A separate set of supplies should be kept at home.
*Check  and tick off homework tasks each night and sign the reading
*Please read weekly school newsletter and encourage your child to sustain good habits and good manners. 
 *Room 5 Blog- and write your comments which we look forward to reading this term.
