On Thursday 28 November we celebrated
the Samoan people in our school by having a Pasifika day. Mrs. Reddy and
Railynetta gave Room 5 some Samoan lavalava to wear and leighs made of shells
to wear.
At lunch time, instead of our normal
lunch, we had Samoan food. There was buns dipped in coconut cream and Samoan
pancakes. The buns and pancakes made us very full. It was very delicious lunch.
When it was time for the concert we
all brought our rakau sticks and lined up to go to the Mission Centre. Room 2
did the welcome and Room 1 sang a song. Afyer Room 4 ‘s song with beautiful
actions, it was our turn. The boys did
the sasa, the girls sang and danced to “Le Aute”.Everyone joined in to do rakau
sticks. Room 6 did a wonderful finish with a haka and a Samoan song.
We all enjoyed Pacifica day and we
think it is great to have different cultures in our school. BY MIMI
