On Monday we welcomed our new principal Mr Wichman. Our amazing kapahaka group welcomed Mr Wichman with a lovely powhiri. Everyone sang I Sing to Mary, Haere Mai and He Honare. Our old principal was there and he handed over the school bell.
On Tuesday Group 1 did an experiment for the class. They had to see if a scrunched up piece of paper would fall to the ground first or a normal flat piece of paper would get there first.
On Wednesday we were4 practicing our song Grandparents Day for singing to all the grandparents who were coming to school on Friday for our St Anne's feast day assembly.
On Thursday Room 4 and 5 went to the library and there were two people from Christchurch City Libraries there. One of the librarians was wearing blue and white spotted pyjamas.Their names were Zac and Saskia. They read snippets from New Zealand Book Award finalists and we guessed which book it was from and the winners got a 3D bookmark if they were correct. Then we came back to class and watched Group 2 do a paper ripping experiment.
On Friday we had the St Anne's feast day and also the grandparents day concert and Room 5 sang their song.It was a really lovely song one grandma said. A while later we got iceblocks from Mr Wichman and some people from Room 5 got orange piggy banks as well.
It has been a very busy week for us.
