Room 5 Visits a Chocolate Factory in Woolston-Thursday 15 November

As part of our Food Technology study ,Room 5 walked briskly down  to the local chocolate factory. When we got there, the owner of the chocolate factory, Steve, told us what was going to happen. The first thing we saw was the “sugar crusher”. The machine crushes the sugar into small pieces so the chocolate is smooth. Next we took turns in having a look inside the mixing machine. Had lots of melted chocolate! Steve told us that when the chocolate is mixed it goes through a CHUTE and then  into a cooling machine. Once the  chocolate is cooled it is chopped  up in to chocolate chips which slides along a conveyor belt and drops into a box .The box is sealed and transported and sold  to different food  companies.
At the end of the tour Steve gave us each a bar of chocolate. The chocolate tasted really good. We enjoyed our visit to the chocolate factory and have a better understanding of how such products are produced. We hope we can visit again soon! Thanks Steve for the opportunity.

A Class Report.
