Mrs Reddy’s Classroom Newsletter Term 3

WELCOME BACK

Kia Orana – Greetings from Rarotonga!

Tena koutou

I hope you all had a restful and warm holiday break. The children look well rested and are ready for learning in the third term.
Thank you for all the support and I hope the mid-year reports clearly informed you of how your child  is learning at school. Once again, revisit the goals set with your child and set new ones using recommendations made in the reports.
During the  term  the students will be guided and supported in keeping the routines to engage in learning at this level. I hope that the children will continue to work on becoming self-propelled learners  and develop this responsibility with a positive attitude.I shall endeavour to do the best I can to ensure their progress in all areas.
The  assertive discipline policy in my class is designed to help  those children who need help in acquiring appropriate behaviours.
Our key competency focus is participating and contributing and I would like to see the students grow in becoming more confident in this area.

COMMUNICATION

The big concept that weaves through all our learning is COMMUNICATION which means that most if not all of our studies will be around this theme.

In the first few weeks the students will  be  busy making preparations for the feast day activities and  their assembly.

We are also visiting the Art Gallery on Wednesday 25 July and look forward to the experience.

LONGTERM PLAN

RE-
There are two major strands for the term  are  Church and Sacrament. The students will continue to be involved in a very active way to live and expand their faith. Separate letters informing you of the content of studies will be  in your child’s RE exercise book. This book will be sent home on a regular basis with home activities to be completed requiring your input. This exercise allows you to support the learning that happens in class .It is important that you sign each home activity on completion and write a comment at the end of the study in each strand .
Our assembly this term will focus on SUSTAINABILITY, a study  we completed last term.
We are also preparing items for our concert on our feast day coming up.
Room 5 are also responsible for the planning and organization of the Mission Fair this term and your support and help will be much appreciated.
