KIAN VISITS THE USA

Kian had a great time in LA and San Fransisco for three weeks. He had plenty to tell us and show us on his return last Monday.Kian the Zoo-keeper.

On July 31 Connor, dad and I went on a 12 hour flight to San Francisco and stayed for six days. Next we  went on a hip hop tour around the city and went to Alcatraz.
In California we  stayed for six days and went to LEGOLAND, Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland and San Diego zoo.
In  the last five days I flew on Air United to Hawaii and stayed at the Hyatt. The submarine ride underwater in the sea was awesome and the helicopter ride around the island was incredible.
It was the best holiday of my life.

THANK YOU ROOM 5 AND MRS BELL

Dear Children

I was very touched by your amazing cards, your thoughtfulness and your kind words. It was very nice of Mr McInnes to deliver your mail.
As you can see I am feeling a lot better than I was last Monday and Tuesday. Nurse Maude visits me daily and she is doing an excellent job to help my recovery. So are Cobie and Archie.
I am sure your assembly preparation is going well and that you will make me very proud on Friday.
Remember to keep taking photos of the wonderful things you are doing at school and especially of your assembly on Friday.
A special thanks for your leadership at the Assumption Mass last week-I heard some awesome things about your organisation and singing.
Look after Mrs Bell and Mrs Grant. I miss you all too.
I shall be back next Monday.

God bless
Mrs Reddy

15 August 2014

Dear Parents
Students learn to write in a variety of ways in Room 5 and now have the chance of making a choice in the speech competition this term to inform, entertain or persuade. We shall be discussing how to write a speech and what it involves.. The students need to select titles they want to write about and may need some help and guidance from you. Speeches must be in their own words. They have a selection of topics ,as discussed with you at the interviews, and I shall be asking them to give me their titles soon.
Here is an outline of how the speeches will be judged. I am sure the following guidelines will help with your child’s speech preparation. Speeches will be heard at the end of in week 8 and first  place getters will speak at assembly in week 9.

SUBJECT

·           Is the subject well known-learnt off by heart?

·           Does the speech have a logical tone?

·           Does the speech follow a logical order of events?

·           Does the speech stick to the topic?

·           Are quotes used?

POSTURE

·               Is  the speaker relaxed?

·               Is there good use of eye contact?

·               Is the face interesting and alive?

·               Is the body language used

·               Is there something to learn something?

South East Zones

At 9:15 am the senior school went to the South East Zones Winter Tournament on a red bus. Most of the boys played soccer and most of the girls played netball.
When we got to the soccer pitches the boys went to find the draw about our first game .
We played against Mount Pleasant school A first. Next we played Bromley School and our last game was against  Heathcoat Valley School.
Sadly we lost all our games and TJ got the only goal for our team .At least we got a goal - it was a really good goal because it was a fast one.I think my team did very well because they passed the ball really well.
When we got   back we were all really tired and ready for a good sleep. It  is good to take part at the Se Zones to meet other schools in our area. I am looking forward to the Catholic schools tournament coming up next month.
