Celebrating Mary's Assumption 15 August

 .

At 9 o’clock this morning we went to mass with the parish to celebrate Mary going up into Heaven. Father Chris Friel, Administrator of our Christchurch Diocese, said Mass and it was great to see him. 

Today we remember Mary and her rising to heaven body and soul when she died. 

Father reminded us to be good so that we can go to heaven like Mary did.

 We sang “I sing to Mary” during Holy Communion. 

We shall remember Mary  in a special way today.

ASSEMBLY ON ENDANGERED BIRDS - 3 August

Today we had our assembly about sustainability. The assembly was, entertaining, informative and interesting. It was also well organized and Lingas was a great leader.

I think that everyone enjoyed our assembly. We decorated the mission centre with two endangered birds and with the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

We are proud of the ‘Endangered Bird ‘scrapbooks that we donated to our school library .We invite everyone to read it so that more and more people become aware of keeping our birds safe.

  Our Olympic Ring

Our ring is purple because it is the colour of Jesus. It is also the colour of the ribbon on the medals. Our purple ring has the  Olympic values of such friendship, respect and excellence.

Our trip into the city to see  Michael Parekowhai’s  Art Exhibition at NG Gallery was awesome. Here are some photos we want to share with you.

 We strongly recommend that you see this display - the grand piano and life sized bulls are  made of bronze  and they look magnificent.

ST ANNE'S FEAST CONCERT - FRIDAY 27 July

St Anne was the mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus .St Anne had always wanted a child before she had Mary.

She prayed to God in the temple every day. She loved God; St Anne always wanted to do good things. She is a great role model. Before she had Mary, people were saying bad things about her and her husband,Joachim, because they had no children. This made her husband depressed.

One day Joachim went into the desert to pray for a child. An angel appeared to him. The angel said, “You will have a daughter and you will call her Mary and give her to me!” 

At that time Anne was in the garden watching the baby birds. She shouted, “Why can’t I have a child?”

 An angel appeared to her and told her that she would have a child and she was to call her Mary and give her back to God. Anne and her husband were very happy.

St Anne loved Mary and made her work in the church every day at an early age. Mary decided to follow in the footsteps of her mother and together they worshiped the Lord.

I think St Anne was a great person and a great grandmother mother. St Anne is a saint all parents can look up to.

Great to have so many parents and friends at our feast day concert.
Great to take part in our feast day Mass after play.
Best of all it was a real pleasure to have Bishop Barry visit our class.We were amazed when he told us about the number of languages he speaks.
