LET THE ADVENT SEASON BEGIN - MONDAY 1 DECEMBER 2014.

We learned about the meaning of Advent this morning. As a follow up we had the opportunity to design our own wreaths, some of which we would like to share with you and invite you to join us as we prepare for the coming of JESUS. Advent also marks the beginning of the new Church year-Year B.

From top to bottom the wreaths were created by Kristyl, Letone, Talia and Elisah.

Here are some great suggestions to help you prepare for Christmas

Go to Mass every Sunday and join  in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Listening with special attention to the liturgy of the Word.

FINAL JUNIOR NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY 2014

Andrea,we are sad that today is the last JNS assembly of 2014- and also for the next couple of years. We know that other schools want to use your talent in making their own communities and schools too.
We have been very lucky to have you and we enjoyed working with you to make St Anne’s a happier and kinder place. We hope that you will remember our school for our smiling faces and friendliness. We will miss you but we know that you will spread the good news of being good neighbours to all the new schools you will go to.
We wish you all the best for your future and hope that one day we shall reunite again.
FINN MOUNTY (Leader)

Andrea, Finn and I would just like to think back on the fun and learning  that we have gone through together. We have really enjoyed making posters, banners and setting displays in the school foyer- advertising Junior Neighbourhood Support.

It has given us great joy to see you smiling at what we have achieved. Your smiling face has always given us confidence to be leaders and we are very grateful.
We would like to dedicate this assembl to thank you, Andrea, for your time and talent.
Good luck, goodbye and God bless.

GOODBYE JAMAINE

We are very sorry that Jamaine is leaving us. Today is his last day. The first thing we did was to make him an awesome big card with our unique, personal messages inside.
As soon as we finished making our card, Jamaine walked in. Next he showed us some videos to motivate us to be successful in life. Madeline gave a vote of thanks on behalf of Room 5 and Elisah presented him with our beautiful card with which he was very impressed.

At 12 o’clock Jamaine cheered us up with a delightful sausage sizzle to thank us for being amazing and polite students.
We shall always remember Jamaine’s hard work and wish him all the best in his new job selling heaps of cars and making lots of money.

BOYS IN ACTION CREATING THEIR ROBOTS

ROBOT PRODUCTION IN ROOM 5

We have almost completed our study on ROBOTS about the amazing world of robots. It has been  amazing - especially learning about the robots now being developed which use artificial intelligence to behave more like living creatures able to act independently in changing environments.

We have completed 14 specific tasks in this study and the students are now busy applying their robotic knowledge to design and build their own robots- I can see a lot of enthusiasm and hard work.

Well done Room 5.I  cannot wait to show your robots to  everyone!

Mrs Reddy.

LIBRARIAN READS SOME BOOKS TO ROOM 5 TODAY.

Anne warding   from Linwood Library visited to read us some books at 1.30 pm today. She told us that the library is free to be used by everyone. It was surprising to know that we can borrow 30 items a month at once. WOW!
We are going to try harder to visit Linwood Library and the books Anne recommended for us.It was a nice change to listen to Anne read to us.
We look forward to more of Anne’s visits next year.

SPELLING ROBOTS

Today  we to finished a  task that had to do with new words in our study of  making and thinking about robots. As you can see we made a spelling  robot with a lot of robotic words on the legs. In our robot, Asa worked on the body and one of the arms, Charlie worked on the head and the other arm and I worked on  writing the specific vocabulary on the legs.  I think that having Robotics -System as our topic  of study this term is really helping us to work and learn new things together.                 ELISAH

A SCIENCE ALIVE EXPERIENCE-

An Introduction To Robots  By Austrid From Science Alive

In our collage , Astrid is showing us a power point about different types of robots. Our first task was to connect all the parts together. After we finished our first task we had to sit on the mat and carefully listened to Astrid. Once she explained our second task, we went and completed it by connecting wires. In our third task we had to put something called a sensor which was awesome and cool. We thought that Science Alive is very helpful and we had a lot of fun.
Elisah and Kristyl.

In  our photo the group has built their robot vehicle. The next step was to update our robots on the laptop so instructions could be transferred to the mother board. The instructions were to go forwards, backwards and in a perfect circle if you wanted to make a donut. Once those steps were completed, we were then able to test our robot to see if it would go round in a circle.
By Madeline, Talia and Asa

Astrid showed us what a robot looks like and what it does. We started making the robots with our partners. We had to make it move using the laptops. Testing time was just beginning for Evie and I. We had to make our robot go bake and forward. Then we made our robot do a perfect circle. We struggled a bit. These were our challenges. We enjoyed our time with Astrid and can’t wait until we  make our own robot. By Ruby and Evie

We had to attach things after we had built the robot such as sensors and bumpers. After we had done this we had to programme it on the provided laptop. This part was like installing instructions onto the robot. Our challenge was to make the robot go forward, backward and around in a perfect circle.

Mrs Reddy’s Classroom Newsletter

WELCOME BACK !

Greetings to you all. I trust that you  all had a lovely holiday and the children are well rested for the last term of the year. We have a very busy term planned which will keep us well occupied. Thanks again for all your support for our Mission Fair which was a huge success and a lot of fun.

The students continue to need a lot of guidance and support in keeping the routines to engage in learning at this level. I hope that  the children will work on becoming self-propelled learners  and develop this responsibility with a positive attitude shall endeavour to do the best I can to ensure their progress in all areas. The assertive discipline policy in my class will be continued to help  those children who still need help in acquiring  appropriate behaviours  and work habits.

I was very impressed with the interviews and would like to thank those of you who attended. If you were unable to make it I am still happy to discuss your child’s progress with you. These interviews are of vital importance and keep you accurately informed of your child’s learning progress and other behaviours at school.
