Mission Fair Preparations

I was worked  hard on the posters for the Mission Fair. Letone, Jeremy and I did some posters for the food stall. While we were doing this Ms Reddy took our pictures with our shape art and our summer leaves that were going to be sold at our Mission Fair this week. Finally we did the prices for the food that was going to be sold at the Mission Fair. This morning was good because we didn’t have to do any normal school work.

YEAR OF FAITH ICON AT OUR SCHOOL!

Catholic Sports Tournament- Friday 13 September

Last Friday, after morning tea we hopped on the bus to go to Hagley Park for the Catholic Sports Tournament. There were two teams from our school in the soccer tournament. There was an A team and a B team. Both teams played 6 games. Our team played lots of teams. A team  won 4 games but lost 2.  We lost the two games because  of the keeper. We were disappointed when we lost both games. We had a great time playing and having fun at the tournament and  hope we could play next year and also win.

Catholic Sports Tournament Friday 13 September

Dear Diary

We travelled to the Hagley Park.. I was in the netball A team playing centre, one of the best positions. When we got off the bus we had to go straight to the netball courts. We were worried because it was Friday the 13th and everyone knows that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. The first team we played was O.L.V. and we were winning at first but they won 7 to 1.We did get the first goal of the tournament.
The second team we played was C.K.T. and they gave us a good thrashing and we lost 1 to 13. We finally had our victory in the third game  we played, it was goal after goal after goal. Our fourth and fifth teams were also victories. It turned out that Friday the 13th wasn’t so bad after all. It certainly wasn’t unlucky as we won three out of five games.

St Anne’s Senior Speech Competition

Last Friday St Anne’s had their speech competition. The who students in the competition from Our class were Laverton-Y6 winner and Jamal-Year winner. The  speeches were really good. Laverton's speech was about “Why School Is Important, and Jamal’s speech was about Water Vs. Coke. I thought these two speeches were the best speeches out of the whole senior competition.I invite you to listen to their speeches and see if you agree with me.

GROWING UP-PUBERTY

Everyone is unique even though we grow up in four different ways. These changes are exciting and challenging for everyone.
Emotionally we start to handle our fear more successfully. We begin to control our emotions and act appropriately. Life brings us new experiences and new feelings which cause changes to our emotions.
Physically we experience changes. We get stronger, heavier and taller every day. Our face  may have pimples. Our hair can become darker and greasier. It is important to take care of our bodies, keeping them  clean, through this time.
Socially we begin to develop new relationships with our friend and families. We begin to move into new environments such as high school and clubs. As we get older we start to take more responsibility for ourselves. This can be fun as we learn to take control.
Everyone goes through changes like these on the journey to adulthood.

KNOWING OURSELVES

Everyone is unique even though we grow up in four different ways. The four different ways are intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
One of the ways someone grows up is intellectually. As you grow up your brain grows, you have more experiences and get new skills. You grow independence, make discoveries and have more choices.
The other way is emotionally. People can get over fears and control their emotions. Your feelings will change and you can even explore new emotions.
The third way is growing up socially. People make friendships as you grow up, you make heaps of new friends and maybe stop being friends with others. Some people might have relationships.
The last way you grow up is physically. People get stronger, taller and heavier. People go through puberty and their bodies change. You can get pimples.
Every one of us changes and grows. It doesn’t matter how long it takes.

PUBERTY - GROWING UP

Everyone is unique even though we grow up in four different ways during puberty - Intellectually, Emotionally, Socially and physically. Everybody grows in these four ways.
When you grow up intellectually you learn to grow independently. Your brain grows and you learn new skills.  Maybe you will find yourself doing things that you have never accomplished. There are more experiences and discoveries to make. It will make life more fun.
Growing up emotionally means that you can get over your fears. You’d be able to do what you were afraid of and that would be cool. You shall learn to control your emotions and explore new ones.  Feelings for one another may change and you might not have fun with the people you used to.
When you grow up socially you may want to be friends with people you never expected. Some unexpected people may want to be friends with you. There are more fun experiences that you will enjoy now. When you experience something you may want try it again and, over time you could be an expert.
Growing up physically shows more than the other three types’. You get taller, heavier and stronger. Sooner or later your face will break out in pimples. Your hair will get very oily, but it is only temporary. It is a good idea to keep it out of you face because it is not good for your skin.
At some time in your life these changes will happen to you. They are no laughing matter. It may be something to ask your parents about. They could be interested to know that you have started these changes.

KAPA HAKA - Cultural Festival Wednesday 28 August

PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS KEEPING OUR MAORI AND PASIFIKA CULTURES ALIVE!

Yesterday at eleven o’ clock we had our morning tea and got into our costumes. After that we got on the bus to go to the Westpac Arena.Once we arrived we were seated in our place.. First we  watched a couple of schools and then it was time for us to go on. As soon as we got backstage we were  nervous and hoping not to  make mistakes. When we started running out onto the stage it was confusing but after we started singing we were  fine. We really enjoyed the performance and I thought  we all did well.

Room 5 Participants

The whole of St Anne’s school went to the New Zealand Cultural Festival at C.B.S stadium! Our school was the second to perform, but I thought they brought the house down! The show was performed for the closing schools in Christchurch. The Highland dancers -sailors also preformed too, Indi and Amelia from our school did the sailor dance. Even the boys from St Bead's preformed for us! The 2013 Cultural Festival was a great one!
