JUNIOR NETBALL - SE ZONES

JUNIOR NETBALL
The South East Zones Tournament was Held at Hagley Park today. There were about nineteen schools taking part. I was in the Junior Netball team. First we played Sumner. Unfortunately we lost. Next we played Linwood Ave and surprisingly we won. Then we versed Heathcote Valley followed by Redcliffe. We won against Redcliffe. Then Mount Pleasant and lastly Woolston. All the schools did extremely well! We came fifth overall. There was a lot of intercepting, shooting and a lot of jumping in the games but above all, I had a magnificent time at the tournament.

Year 5-6 Speech Competition 2013

19 August 2013
Dear Parents
Students learn to write in a variety of ways in Room 5 and now have the chance of making a choice in the speech competition this term to inform, entertain or persuade. We have discussed how to write a speech as I mentioned to you at the interviews last week. The students have selected titles they want to write about and may need some help and guidance from you. Speeches must be in their own words.
Here is an outline of how the speeches will be judged. I am sure the following guidelines will help with your child’s speech preparation. Speeches will be heard at the end of next week .First place getters will speak at assembly in week 9.

PRESENTATION
·           Is there  a gripping introduction?
·           Is the content clearly ordered?
·           Does  the conclusion bring the speech together?
·           Is the  speaker enjoying  the delivery?
there effective eye contact?
SPEAKING VOICE
·           Is each word clear? (diction)
·           Can you hear the speaker well? (volume)
·           Does the expression vary?
·           Are the main ideas emphasised?
·           Is a rhythm and momentum maintained? (pace)
SUBJECT
·           Is the subject well known?
·           Does the speech have a logical tone?
·           Does the speech follow a logical order of events?
·           Does the speech stick to the topic?
·           Are quotes used?
POSTURE
·               Is  the speaker relaxed?
·               Is there good use of eye contact?
·               Is the face interesting and alive?
·               Is the body language used

·               Is there something to learn something?

Thanks for the support and interest you have in your child’s learning at school. Best wishes.                                                                                                    Grace

The South East Zones Tournament

Yesterday we had our South East Zones tournament. I was in the A team.

We won some games and lost some of the 14 games we played.

We forfeited the last match but we were disappointed not playing.

Anyway, when we got back I was happy because I could  was so tired.

I was very happy to play and am looking forward to the Catholic Tournament in a month.

SEXUALITY EDUCATION IN ROOM 5 Week 3

STEREOTYPES - We had a fun look at the way in which  society sometimes stereotypes boys and girls-Enjoy our poems!

Girls and Boys
Boys always think they’re tough
They never seem to eat enough.
People seem to think girls are week
But really we’re quite unique.
Boys say they never cry,
But we all know that that’s a lie.
Girls on the other hand, are no wimps,
They quite like their purples and pinks.   Grace and Railynetta

BOYS -  GIRLS
Boys are cooler than girls
Girls have squeaky voices
Boys are better at sport
Girls are good at cleaning
Boys are stronger and girls are wimps
Boys like blue and girls like pink
Boys are better at gaming and are always disruptive
Girls are hardworking and love jewellery
Girls like dolls -Boys are good at boxing and lego
Girls like to scream
Boys are confident in everything they do.       By Kian, Ethan and Jamal

Girls and Boys
Girls are cool, boys don’t rule
Girls like pink, boys like blue
Boys have very stinky shoes
Girls have fun, boys, get burnt by the sun
Boys are strong, Girls are never wrong
Girls are the best, boys aren’t cool
They’ve just got to accept that all girls rule!     Beth and Mimi

WHO’S BETTER?
We think boys are really cool,
We prove that with work at school.
Boys are really good at sport,
All girls do is talk and talk.
Girls just play with Barbie dolls,
And boys just like to rock and roll.
We think boys are better than girls,
Everyone agrees with us around the world!              Lingas and Jeremy

 girls rule!
Girls rule, boys always unkind don’t,
Girls like pink, and boys like blue.
Boys are mean and loud, girls are sweet and kind.
Boys are always being unkind.
Girls would go shopping and boys would sit and play video games.
Girls ARE better to be around and
Girls  ARE still better than boys!!!                                   By Indi And Lilly

Girls and Boys
Girls are made of sugar and spice boys are made of nothing nice Where there’s a boy there’s always trouble sometimes there’s a bit of rubble.
We think girls are rather nice but boys just act like wild mice.
Boys like monster trucks, bugs and more
Girls like pink and clothes galore.
Girls collect stickers while boys collect cards.
Boys play rugby then get muddy and grubby
Girls stay clean and talk all day.                                          By Carina and Sofia
