An Information Report on DOLPHINS

Room 5 has been learning to write better information reports. Progress has been good - we have been using different sources to find information including the internet.

This is what Lingas found out about dolphins.

Dolphins have recently been in the news. They are very smart mammals, very similar to humans. Their main habitat is in the water but they are not fish.
There are 36 different species of dolphins . A group of dolphins is called a  pod. They eat fish, squid and krill.
Dolphins do not smell very nice. Young dolphins stay with their parents for two to three years before they leave. Once an adult, they can  jump up 1,000 feet high.
Dolphins can swim an amazing 25km/h. which  is much faster than the world’s fastest man. Dolphins can also be taught to do tricks in the water. They can do backflips and they can communicate with each other.
I think that dolphins are very smart and unique. They are very amazing creatures. Unfortunately, they can only live for about 17 years. Some dolphins have lived for over 50 years.
I would love to see a real live dolphin and feel its skin.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS _Thursday 28 March

Today we recalled  Jesus’ journey to his death. As we travel the way of the cross, let us remember the message of love and hope that Jesus’ death holds for us and our world.

The symbols of Holy Week remind us that we are called to
be, like Jesus, a symbol of God’s love in our world today.

Let us ask for God’s blessing:

May we live in God’s love now and always

May Jesus Christ, our crucified and risen Lord bring us to new life.

May the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God’s love, come into our hearts and stay with us forever.

AMEN

Room 5 wishes everyone a holy and joyful Easter!

EASTER RECONCILIATION _Tuesday 27 March

Dear Diary
Father Dan is at school today for Reconciliation. Last Wednesday Room 4 and Room 5 discussed the Examination of Conscience sheet together to get ready for reconciliation.
We thought about things we did wrong at school and home. I am going to be ready to tell Father Dan what I did wrong.
After confession I am going to try not to do anything wrong so that on Easter Sunday all my sins will be forgiven.

PALM SUNDAY PREPARATION- Friday 22 March

On Palm Sunday we get given palms to wave  around because it’s the day Jesus came back from the dessert.  Jesus was in the dessert praying and fasting for 40 days and 40 nights.  When he came out from the dessert the  villagers waved palms with joy and happiness.  They were shouting,” Hosanna” and praising Jesus.
On Palm Sunday we get palms to wave at Mass because it is a joyful day.  When the villagers saw Jesus they waved palms at Jesus.  They were happy to see him. “Hosanna praise God!”  they shouted .
I think waving palms on Palm Sunday would be fun and happy.  I will try my best to go to Mass.

THE CATHOLIC POPE- An Information Report

THE CATHOLIC POPE

The Pope is the leader of the Catholic Church and its 1.2 billion Catholics. He lives in Rome in the Vatican City. Our last Pope was Pope Benedict the sixteenth who has now retired.

The Pope has to be a man and a Catholic. He has to make good decisions. He has to start as a priest then he becomes a bishop. If a bishop is good enough then he will become a cardinal. Only a cardinal can be a Pope. The Pope has to be well educated about the church, he has to be loving, caring and kind.He must make firm decisions. He has to speak in different languages to speak to Catholics around the world.

The Pope has a lot of work to do. He has to run all the churches in the world. He also leads all the bishops and priests and cardinals. He appoints bishops and cardinals and Bishops. The Pope guides all the churches to do what they need to do. He is in charge of all the church property.

The Pope’s responsibility is to take care of all the churches, so if there is any damage in or out of the church the Pope has to order the repair. The Pope has to have enough money to run all the churches in the world.

The Pope names saints. A new saint that was announced  recently by Pope Benedict - Saint Mary Mc killiop. If someone abuses the church the Pope would find a solution using the teachings of the church. He often he delivers his messages pleasantly through his letters and Masses.

I think that our new Pope, Pope Frances the Sixteenth is going to be great. He is from Argentina  and  is 76 years of age.
